The qualification teaches generic leadership skills such as organisation, planning, communication and teamwork through the medium of sport. It is a fun and practical qualification with no entrance requirements or final examinations to sit.
The Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that enables successful candidates to lead small groups in simple sport and recreational activities whilst under the direct supervision of their tutor.

Certification: Sports Leaders Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership
Entry Requirement: Over 16
Assessment Type: - Assessed on the course which include leadership experience.
Course Content
The Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership consists of seven units of work:
- Planning, preparing and assisting a simple sporting activity
- Basic communication skills for leading a sporting activity
- Principles and practice in delivering a basic health and fitness session
- Understanding fair play in sport
- Understanding the role of the sports official
- Understanding the scope of local sport and recreational activity
- Demonstration of leadership skills in sport
