How can I get more information?

What support is there for students?

Amac is committed to providing you with individual support for every student on both home study and practical courses. We offer support by telephone, email and post prior, during and after you training. Any specific individual learning needs can be outlined on the application form when booking a course.

What are my job prospects when I finish my training?

The fitness industry is continually growing with more and more health clubs opening, so there are plenty of opportunities for qualified fitness professionals to enjoy a new and rewarding career.

What study options are available?

You can study at your own pace and in your own time with our flexible study options, for example, home study courses with weekend attendance. See our Dates and Venues booklet or online for current information.

Are the qualifications industry recognised?

Amac offers nationally recognised courses accredited by Central YMCA Qualifications and OCR which are standard throughout the fitness industry.

Do I need to be very fit to take an Amac Training course?

Amac’s practical courses focus on a student’s instructional skills and teaching qualities. However, you will need to be sufficiently fit to demonstrate exercises.

What is included in the course fee?

All courses include materials, handouts, books, VAT, awarding body registration (for CYQ and OCR courses), certification and assessments. There are no hidden costs.

Will I need to buy expensive books for the courses?

Amac provide all the course books and material that you need which is included in the course fees.

I want to be a gym instructor, what qualifications do I need ?

On successfully completing our gym instructor and first aid course, you will be fully qualified to work independently as a fitness instructor.

What age do I need to be a qualified gym instructor?

You will need to be 16 years or over to study our level 2 courses (Gym/ETM/Circuits). You will be able to gain insurance if you are 18 years or over. The personal trainer courses (level 3) requires you to be 18 years or over. There are no age limits on our courses. The fitness industry requires people of all ages to cater for its needs.

I haven't studied for years!

We run our courses in different formats to suit yourself. Our experienced tutors are qualified and will monitor your progress throughout the course with individual tutorials so you can talk things over. Amacsports are dedicated to providing quality training to ensure that your transition to a career in fitness instructing is as enjoyable and rewarding.

What is an NVQ?

National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are offered to people in work, giving them the chance to prove their ability to do their job and gain an industry recognised qualification.

What is an RVQ?

Related Vocational Qualifications (RVQs) are ideal for those who are looking for training to enable them to work as a fitness instructor or personal trainer. These industry recognised courses are also for continuing professional development for those already working in the industry.

What does an NVQ involve?

You will work together with your tutor to map your existing skills and knowledge to what is needed to gain the NVQ. Any gaps in the portfolio will be filled with additional evidence during the course.
